Support Our Soldiers (and many other rants about the absurdity of our country)
I didn’t realize up till a few days ago, after watching The Hurt Locker, how much I and many other people took our soldiers for granted. Some even take their frustration with the fact that there even is a war, out on the soldiers. My dad said that once, when the soldiers were coming home, after risking their life to save our little ungrateful butts, a few peace obsessed people threw tomatoes and paint at them. That made me so mad…. And the irony! Don’t you see it? Peace, peace, peace, peace…..yet they throw things at the people who are trying their best to preserve and fight for our freedom. Would they rather us be peaceful- in other words, lay down our freedom and be slaves? Don’t they realize that we can’t sit down and talk to these people? Kindly ask them, “could you please not kill me?” and see how they react.
A little before July 4th, 2009, North Korea told America that they were going to test a missile– launching it in the direction of Hawaii, and if we did anything to intercept it, we would be declaring war…. Somewhere in there, I heard something about them obliterating the USA. I seriously got terrified, but my dad assured me that we had the power to stop it and went on to describe to me how if we spotted a tiny dot in the sky turning out to be a missile, we could shoot it down….And I forgot the details, but it was amazing, and we should definitely be thankful that we can be this safe and have this freedom.
The Hurt Locker is based around the bomb squad and their work in Iraq, 2004. Their job was to go to wherever a bomb was sighted- or even the least suspicion of a bomb being there- and to dispose of it. Sounds easy enough, no? But… Even the slightest wrong move, or even, as my dad told me, a cell phone call (apparently the terrorists could program it so as soon as they called this cell phone- BOOM, the bomb would go off) and the brave men/women, risking their life (as I have said before), will have been blown to smithereens.
Alright, so let’s say war is bad. I mean it is, but sometimes it’s necessary. I’ll get into that later. Let’s say that war is NOT necessary. Umm…I can’t say that.
War is necessary. Our enemies are not going to stop the bombs from killing us all, or refrain from taking us as slaves and working us until we all die. I exaggerate, but they obviously do not have their head on their shoulders if they’re blowing people- their own citizens as well- up!
I got in somewhat of a discussion with a girl on that famous website- yes, supersecret- and she said that war was bad. I said yes, but sometimes it was necessary. She said no. And as an example, she began, “what if someone dropped a bomb on your home and it killed all your family?” I think that she was trying to say- “what if we dropped a bomb on an innocent citizen’s home and killed all their family?” I said, “if someone did drop a bomb on my home, and killed all of my family, I would do everything in my power to ensure that it wouldn’t happen again, to other people’s family.”
Now in answer to what I think she was trying to say, I’ve worried about that as well, but my dad says (yes I talk to him a lot) that we don’t randomly drop bombs, we keep the innocent person’s safety in mind.
Now back to the irony…peace, peace, peace, yet we can kill our own children in the womb? Peace begins in the womb. Get that into your heads, people. Please! If we can kill innocent lives in the womb, who don’t even have the ability to defend themselves, how could it possibly be wrong to fight for our freedom? To defend and protect our country? Yes, that’s what America does. How is that so evil? An even greater evil than abortion? I honestly don’t understand it. Please explain…..

When you mentioned how people kill innocent people and even their own citizens, it reminded me of a fun report I did in 7th grade about the Russian invasion in World War II. The Russian air force would drop bombs on innocent Russian cities and homes, just to make it harder for the Germans to survive. Russian citizens were blowing up trains full of other Russians that were completely innocent..madness. Although VERY interesting..to me at least.
